Everything you need to know about ZealZag, the Peer Loop, and how training together actually works.
The Basics
What is ZealZag?
ZealZag is a peer-to-peer training network for anyone who trains regularly in a sport — whether you are traveling for holidays, work, an event or to experience new terrain. Instead of pedaling a hotel bike or running boring loops, you train with a verified local athlete who knows the routes, the conditions, and the terrain — wherever life takes you.
Who is ZealZag designed for?
ZealZag is designed for people who train regularly and want to maintain that rhythm wherever life takes them. Some members are recreational athletes. Others compete at a high level. What connects them is consistency, shared effort, and the desire to train with people who understand their sport, terrain and mindset.
Can I still use ZealZag if I usually train alone?
Yes. Many ZealZag athletes train solo most of the time but use the platform selectively when traveling, exploring unfamiliar terrain, training long distance, or looking for shared effort in new destinations. Others thrive in sport communities and train best with local groups, crews and clubs. ZealZag supports both styles.
Who may not enjoy ZealZag?
ZealZag may not be the right fit for people who prefer sport as a completely independent practice or who do not currently train regularly in a specific sport. The platform is built around peer connection, shared effort and active sport communities.
Do I need to host travelers to use ZealZag?
No. Hosting is completely optional. Some members only travel and train with local athletes. Others only host. Many do both. The Peer Loop is designed to work in whichever way fits your lifestyle and training routine.
Why should I book my stay through ZealZag?
Booking your stay through ZealZag unlocks access to the Peer Loop — including verified local athletes, open training sessions, and automatic host earnings inside the network. The stay is what powers the ecosystem and keeps athlete-to-athlete training free.
What is the Peer Loop?
The Peer Loop is the reciprocal model behind ZealZag. When you travel, a verified peer athlete is waiting on the other side. When travelers come to your city, you have the option to pay it forward by becoming the local athlete. Same network, both directions.
Is ZealZag launched yet?
ZealZag is currently in its pre-launch phase. We are onboarding our first verified local athletes worldwide. Join the waitlist and be among the first to access the platform when it opens in your destination.
What if there are no verified athletes in my destination yet?
Join the waitlist and tell us where you are going. ZealZag expands city by city based on athlete demand and community growth. Your request helps shape where the network launches next.
Is it free?
Yes. Joining ZealZag is free. Training together is always free. When a traveler finds a local athlete or open event on the platform, they book their stay directly through that athlete's event dashboard. The local athlete earns automatically from that booking. No fees between athletes.
What sports does ZealZag support?
Trail running, cycling, climbing, skiing, surfing, hiking, ultra running, and more. ZealZag is built for endurance and outdoor sport — any discipline where the right local with the right local knowledge changes the experience.
Can a coach join ZealZag?
Yes. Certified coaches are welcome on ZealZag. Athletes training for a competition or looking to improve their skills in new terrain can connect with a verified local coach through the platform. Coaches charge their own professional fees as always — ZealZag adds hotel booking earnings as an additional income stream.
For Athletes Traveling
How do I find athletes and events in my destination?
Search your destination and sport. ZealZag shows you verified local athletes who have open training events in that location — matched to your fitness level, pace, and sport discipline. If you run 50K a week, you will only see runners at that level. If you climb V8, you will only see V8 climbers. No mismatches. Just the right people, in the right place, already open to training with you.
What does it cost to train with a local?
Nothing. Training together is always free. The local athlete earns automatically when you book your stay through ZealZag. No fees between athletes.
How do you match me with the right athlete?
ZealZag matches by sport, terrain, pace, training intensity, and schedule — before you ever meet. No performance anxiety. No mismatch. It is an equal partnership on both sides of the loop.
Can clubs or training groups join ZealZag?
Yes. ZealZag is designed for both individual athletes and local sport communities. Some sessions are one-on-one, while others involve local crews, clubs or open group training events. Any athlete — recreational or competitive — can also create and grow groups within the ZealZag ecosystem. As groups grow, ZealZag can also provide partnership opportunities and brand collaborations managed through the platform for group administrators — creating additional value for local sport communities.
For Local Athletes
How do I become a host?
Apply through the platform. You will go through ID verification and sport proof — confirming you are a real athlete who trains regularly in your local terrain.
How do I earn as a host?
You earn automatically when travelers book their stay through ZealZag for a trip they take with you. Payouts run through Stripe Connect on a regular schedule.
Do I need to be a pro athlete to host?
No. ZealZag is for those who train regularly — recreational or competitive. What matters is consistency and real local knowledge of your terrain. If you train where you live and want to share it, you qualify.
Am I expected to coach or guide?
No. Hosts are peers training at their pace on terrain they know. You are sharing your normal training session with a traveler who booked their stay through ZealZag to train with you.
Trust & Verification
How are athletes verified?
ZealZag uses a multi-layer verification system: ID Verified (government-issued ID through Veriff), Athlete Verified (sport proof via Strava, race results, or certifications), and Community Rated (peer reviews after sessions).
Is my data safe?
Yes. ZealZag is committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws worldwide. We collect only what is necessary to operate the platform securely. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, how it is stored, and how to request access or deletion of your data.
